NextCloudPi updated to NC15.0.2, brings an improved configuration interface and more

The latest release of NextCloudPi is out!

This release brings the latest major version of Nextcloud, as well as a big rework of the internals, big enough to jump to version 1.0!

Most of this is invisible work but will allow NextCloudPi to keep improving the user experience. The old design couldn’t handle more advanced functionality, so this rework will translate on more advanced NCP interfaces in the future. There are already noticeable improvements both in ncp-config and in the web panel.

NextCloudPi improves everyday thanks to your feedback. Please report any problems here. Also, you can discuss anything in the forums, or hang out with us in Telegram.

Last but not least, please download through bitorrent and share it for a while to help keep hosting costs down.

Nextcloud 15

NextCloudPi has been updated to the most recent major release of Nextcloud.

This version features a faster web interface, UX improvements such as a new grid view, improved document editing with Colabora, better 2fa and support for connecting to the Fediverse of Distributed Social Media, such as Mastodon or Peertube.

New design

Search bar, special fields, suggestions and categories

The configuration panel has received the first batch of improvements to take advantage of the new internals. Password fields, path detection, suggestions, restore to defaults as well as a search box have been included.

Navigate ncp-apps with history support

Also the panel is now stateful, so we can access through URL, reload the page to the same ncp-app, or use the browser history.

The TUI has categories too!

Also, the list of ncp-apps is getting long, so it was time to divide it into categories

Nextcloud app

A tiny NCP app has been added to Nextcloud. At this moment all it does is to provide an easy way to access the NCP control panel from Nextcloud itself.

  1. Thank you so much for your help ! Especially the password hiding. It makes this OS safer, one of the best OS ever !
One day, if you have time, please feel free to make an easy tutorial about how to set up Collabora (tutorials on the web are not as easy), I am sure it can work well on Rock64 for instance.

  2. I am preparing to set up a Rock64 board for NCP and I am wondering, if the Image File Size of 1.4 MB can be correct?!
    NextCloudPi_Rock64_01-12-19.tar.bz2 of 12-Jan-2019 22:30 has a size of 1440k?!

I currently use NCP on my RP3 and just LOVE IT!

      1. Last saturday my rock64 board arrived and I prepared to spend my weekend with setting up my new nextcloud server (Rock64 with 2GB and an attached 2x2TB RAID1 via USB3.0). But hell no! It was all just a question of of a couple hours: Port forwarding, fail2ban, the ssl-Certificate from let’s Encrypt for the https access, binding of the external USB HDDs and moving the data storage to it – all included in the installation process.
This is really great work!! Nachoparker, you’re made my day, thank you so much!

  3. Thanks–this is working great on my RP3! Incredibly simple!
One thing I noticed: it’s running 32bit. Any recommendations for those of us with 64bit capable hardware?

  4. After autom. update from 14 to 15.0.2

there are some warnings regarding your setup.
•Some columns in the database are missing a conversion to big int. Due to the fact that changing column types on big tables could take some time they were not changed automatically. By running ‘occ db:convert-filecache-bigint’ those pending changes could be applied manually. This operation needs to be made while the instance is offline.

    Can you please fix them?
I am using only the autom. ncp updates.

    1. Hello,

I didn’t include this for the same reason as Nextcloud didn’t. I don’t want an instance to be down for hours by an automatic process. You can just issue that command at your convenience.

  5. A very sleek looking design, how ever any chance to get an updated smb configuration guide as the most “recent” one is now irrelevant as you can only activate smb trough the gui not define directories, would be highly useful for people like me who want to setup a singular smb drive along with ncp

  6. You rock! Everyone should be donating $ and equipment to support you full-time! If that is what you want of course!

  7. My Nextcloudpi crashed. So I installed NextCloudPi_RPi_01-13-19.img and updated it. But I can’t load the page. The browser tells me that there is an outdated certificate of Let’s Encrypt. I can’t load the page locally either. Is this the problem I just read about and which is discussed currently with Debian server and Let’s Encrypt?
